Poured concrete is versatile and cost-effective, with finishes from broom to exposed aggregate to stamped. Pavers handle clay movement well because the joints flex, and we install Belgard pavers and wall block as an authorized contractor. Square footage and material set the baseline. Base depth is the next big factor, and it rises for driveways and on wetter soils. Demolition and hauling of old concrete, drainage tied into the surfaces, walls and steps at grade changes, and access for equipment all add to the build. Decorative borders, curves and patterns take more labor.

Pavers set on a thin layer of sand over raw clay are the most common failure we tear out. Without a compacted base and edge restraint, they spread, rut and grow weeds. Concrete poured without control joints cracks wherever it wants, and slabs poured with no reinforcement break apart once clay heaves under them.
